Our first ever online Facebook Christmas auction was a success and we have raised enough to protect a local sett. We were given some wonderful donations including an original Eileen Soper illustration which sold for £370 and the winning bidder, Robert King, very kindly donated an extra £30 making it £400. He has a little female badger in his Scottish garden and is smitten. We eventually had 86 lots. People were very generous in their bids and obviously care for the future of our badgers.
The auction ran for 2 weeks and ended on the 6th December 2020. The final figure raised is £2,320 and this consists of £370 gifted in monetary donations but the majority was raised by the generous people who threw themselves into the spirt of things and bid way above expectations.
We now have a dedicated auction page for the future with over 100 members. It is also very much a public page, and anyone can join in and bid. The feedback has been good with people saying how much they enjoyed the auction, the quality of the lots and when is the next one!
The winning bids came from far and wide and have been posted throughout England, Scotland, Ireland, and even the Isle of Mull. Many local people took part too and members of the group rallied round and delivered their parcels in person.
The auction has raised our profile in the badger community, and we have many new followers including other badger groups throughout the country.
When work begins on the sett I will post photos on our facebook auction page and on the main KBPG facebook page. See the bottom of this page for links to all our facebook pages.
